Wednesday November 1
We've arrived! My flight left Fort Lauderdale at 11:45 so I got an Uber, which by the way was the best Uber trip to the Fort Lauderdale airport. We left right on time and I was happy we landed twenty minutes early because I had only a 45 minute time gap from touchdown to takeoff. How far would I have to travel to get to the next gate? Right across the hall - whooo hooo!
Landed in San Diego and I had no longer reached the baggage claim that Keith landed. Within fifteen minutes we were on the bus to get the rental car and we were on the road within half an hour of leaving the airport. We arrived at the Cape Rey Hilton Resort about forty five minutes later. Check in was quick and I was anxious to see our "Ocean View" room because so many times when you get such a room you DO have a view, but not a full-on view. Nope, as soon as I opened the door I immediately saw the view I was hoping for.......
We took a minute to check out the balcony and then headed out to Vigilucci's for dinner. I had found this online as an ocean-view restaurant in Carlsbad and when we asked the girl at the front desk she recommended it and told us it was less than five miles away. I wasn't sure if it was the same restaurant Kim and I had eaten at when we visited San Diego several years ago, but as soon as we walked up from the parking lot in the back I KNEW it was the same. Dinner was great as the sun set and then we returned to the hotel.
While it was only about 7:30 pm here, for me it was nearly 10:30 pm at home, and I had just about enough for the long day of travel. We decided to sit out on the patio with the fire pit for about 45 minutes then headed upstairs to watch the final inning of the World Series.
We left the patio door open and I fell asleep to the sounds of the Pacific Ocean crashing into the rocks across the street.
